Airbus announced on Wednesday that it will sell 430 airplanes to USA firm Indigo Partners for $49.5 billion in the European firm's biggest deal ever.

Boeing is dominating the Dubai show so far, after Dubai's Emirates airline announced a surprise 787 Dreamliner order.

"This significant commitment for 430 additional aircraft underscores our optimistic view of the growth potential of our family of low-priced airlines, as well as our confidence in the A320neo Family as a platform for that growth", said Indigo Partners Managing Partner Bill Franke.

The Dubai Airshow wraps up on Thursday.

Airbus SE announced the biggest commercial-plane deal in its history, securing an order valued at almost $50 billion for 430 planes from its single-aisle A320neo line. It also includes two freighters the airline announced as a commitment in June that finalized into a firm order and posted on Boeing's Orders & Deliveries website this month.

The Indigo deal would more than double Airbus's existing order book for the year, which stood at about 290 aircraft as of October 31.

The umbrella deal is created to supply aircaft to four airlines in which Franke's Indigo Partners investment company has stakes: US -based Frontier Airlines, Mexico's Volaris, Chilean carrier JetSmart and Hungary's Wizz.

Airbus Chief Executive Tom Enders left the air show on Monday, though sales chief John Leahy remained at the event in an effort to catch up on negotiations delayed by urgent talks prompted by the unexpected suspension of the A380 deal.

The framework deal, along with flydubai's deal for Boeing's 737 MAX narrowbody jets, underscores how airlines are taking advantage of slowing global demand to negotiate competitive deals to add to their fleets. "We look forward to the arrival of the new aircraft from 2019 in support of our future ambitions".

Boeing immediately hit back with a provisional agreement to sell 175 planes to budget airline flydubai.

"We like how it's shaping up", Kevin McAllister, head of Boeing Commercial planes, said of the midmarket jet over the weekend.

Airbus employees even filled a news conference on Sunday, expecting the A380 sale, instead to find state-owned Emirates making the deal with Boeing in front of Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

Emirates now relies exclusively on the Airbus 380 and the Boeing 777, making it the largest operator of both.
