  • Michael Carrick is understood to have been combating a virus which has made him dizzy

Paul Pogba has been out of the Manchester United side since the Champions League match with Basel in early September.

However, the injury woes appear to be easing as Marouane Fellaini returned to action with a substitute appearance against Chelsea last week and Mourinho expects Pogba, Rojo and Carrick to be available soon after the global break. Since then, he has been on the sidelines as United suffered two league defeats against Huddersfield Town and Chelsea in the process.

A report from the Daily Mail states that Paul Pogba, Michael Carrick and Marcos Rojo have all trained with United's reserve squad during the worldwide break, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic not far off a return to team training either.

According to ESPN FC, Pogba is training with United reserves at Carrington. The list includes the likes of Chris Smalling, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Scott McTominay.

Manchester United take on Newcastle United at Old Trafford next weekend as they bid to get their campaign back on track.

The Red Devils scored an average of three goals per-game with Pogba in the side, but have scored almost half as many, an average of 1.6 per-game.

As for Rojo, he had a strong season for United in central defense and at left back in 2016-17 and has become an essential player for Mourinho.

RED DEVILS star Paul Pogba was in the stands for his team's friendly as he nears a return from injury. Carrick has featured only once for United this term, in the Carabao Cup clash against Burton Albion in Septemnber.

Reports in recent days have claimed Pogba would play for Manchester United versus Newcastle next Saturday.
