The stoppage had barely been signalled when McGregor leaped over the cage, sprinted over to his good friend and jumped on him in a manner that appeared to take even Ward by surprise initially.

In attendance at Bellator 187 on Friday in his native Dublin, McGregor stormed the cage to wildly celebrate teammate Charle Ward's first-round TKO in the opening bout.

The pair came face-to-face again and McGregor had a few choice words for the official. McGregor's invasion caused a heated confrontation with referee Marc Goddard.

McGregor then followed Goddard across the cage before giving him a slight shove him in the back, just before officials intervened.

For the second time in less than a month, Conor McGregor and referee Marc Goddard had issues with each other during an global fight card.

The UFC have yet to comment on the incident but in all likelihood McGregor will face some kind of penalty for his actions, which in turn could lead to a potential delay to his return to the octagon.

This is the second time in less than a month the two have been involved in a cageside kerfuffle. Despite the numbers surely not to be anywhere near what McGregor and Mayweather did in their boxing match, the Irish star believes the UFC can make him happy in a matchup against Ferguson. The UFC is now in negotiations regarding McGregor's potential return in December, according to recent comments by president Dana White.
