Slaven Bilic to hold talks with West Ham United chairmen

  • Liverpool handed major boost as star returns to training two weeks ahead of schedule

Whilst a home victory would lift the pressure off West Ham's Bilic, Reds' boss Jurgen Klopp may have a few uncomfortable questions to answer to.

West Ham have endured a woeful start to their 2017/18 campaign, and now sit in 16th position in the Premier League table, after a return of just nine points from their opening 10 league outings. Third-placed Tottenham meets Crystal Palace.

"I have to talk to the chairman because, of course, we have to discuss this defeat", he told BT Sport .

"Theoretically" is the key word because in reality, Salah played more like a second centre-forward, and in possession, Liverpool seemed more like a 4-2-4, albeit with Mane and Oxlade-Chamberlain both regularly drifting infield.

West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic admits that his side's 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Liverpool has left him in a "difficult situation".

Klopp said: "I decided after just one training session to bring Sadio in from the beginning".

"It's a very hard situation for me".

A 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool seems to have been the final straw for the club and Bilic, with the Hammers sitting just above the relegation zone heading into the worldwide break.

His presence was felt nearly instantly as Liverpool looked more threatening with him in the side, the speed he offers giving Klopp's attack an extra boost.

The Senegal winger missed the last five games after injuring a hamstring on global duty.

Liverpool broke incredibly quickly after clearing the ball and Sadio Mane fed Mohamed Salah for the easiest of goals.

"It was not the worst idea I ever had!" Sadio is not injured anymore, but is he 100% fit?

It was a slightly disjointed system, and while Salah is a tremendous counterattacking number 10 - his performances for Fiorentina in that role were genuinely sensational - it remains to be seen whether he has the intelligence to vary his position, drop into midfield and help Liverpool to play the type of passing triangle that unlocked Maribor in midweek for Can's excellent goal. "3-0, 3-0, 4-1, it's a really good week".

Yet the more direct approach got West Ham back into the game - for one full minute.

Rajiv van la Parra netted a stonking victor on the stroke of half-time, striking a sweet effort from 25 yards that flew into the net beyond an unmoved Ben Foster - his first Premier League goal.

The other promoted team, Newcastle, conceded a last-minute goal to Bournemouth in a 1-0 loss.

Everton is reportedly interested in hiring Sean Dyche away from Burnley after firing manager Ronald Koeman in October.

"I never like to talk about myself like "I'm that, I'm that, I'm that" I never do it I know my values and if I am anything I am a strong man and I am a big believer in myself and I never, and I am the one who is taking the bullets all the time when I have to and when I don't have to so that is out of the question, how strong a character I am".

"There's not a story there".

Substitute Peter Crouch ensured a 2-2 draw for Stoke City at home to Leicester City.
