  • BlizzCon 2017: Overwatch to Get New Hero Moira, New BlizzardWorld Map Soon

There were three huge announcements given for Overwatch at BlizzCon, Blizzard Entertainment's yearly conference, this year.

Blizzard has unveiled new content on the way to its popular hero-based first-person shooter (FPS) Overwatch, as a part of its annual BlizzCon conference. A quick trailer shows what she brings to the table in battle. She's essentially Mercy's dark counterpart - she's a healer, but she's got an edgier look, and is a former member of the shadowy Blackwatch division.

Bionic Orb: Moira launches a rebounding biotic sphere; she can choose between a regeneration effect that heals the allies it passes through, or a decay effect that deals damage to enemies.

The new hero, Moira, will be a support hero with the ability to switch and synergize between healing and dealing damage. The new hero, called Moira, is the 26th playable character to be added to the game.

She's got to balance these, though: using the healing attack, she expends energy, which is then replenished with her damaging attack, which also heals Moira.

In addition, Blizzard aired a new animated short for Reinhardt, which was wonderful as they always are.

Creative director Jeff Kaplan described the character something of a hybrid character, which is unusual for Overwatch.

Much like Reaper, however, she also has her Fade ability, which allows her to teleport across a short distance. Her ultimate looks like a combined super-beam that heals all allies caught in it, or drains all enemies. The map, titled Blizzard world, will be a theme park that is based off of the various IPs from Blizzard.

Blizzard World will be part assault and part payload and released early next year.
