  • A black cab has ploughed into pedestrians after mounting the pavement in Covent Garden

A pedestrian has been left "seriously injured" after a taxi mounted a pavement in London.

A spokesman for the Met Police said: "Police were called at 17:01hrs on Wednesday, 1 November to reports of a taxi in collision with pedestrians in Southampton Street, WC2. Not thought to be terrorist related", police said in a statement.

Photographs on social media showed a black taxi on the pavement behind orange roadworks barriers outside the Jubilee Market Hall.

Officers and the other emergency services attended the scene.

Four people were injured in the incident, with three taken to hospital and a fourth treated at the scene, paramedics said.

Police have stated that it is not terror related.

Police confirmed a number of injuries after the incident near Covent Garden but ruled out terrorism.

The terrifying incident comes less than 24 hours after a suspected terrorist ploughed through a group of cyclists in NY city in a pickup truck killing eight innocent people, five of whom were Argentinaian nationals.
