  • South Africa's David Miller smashes fastest T20I hundred off just 35 balls

Calcutta/Potchefstroom: David Miller smashed the fastest century in T20I cricket as South Africa outclassed Bangladesh by 83 runs in the second and final game to secure the series, at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom, on Sunday. It was scratchy at the start of my innings, towards the end it was sweet.

His effort shaved a full 10 balls off the previous world record, 45 balls by Richard Levi for South Africa against New Zealand in Hamilton in 2012.

Instead Miller rose from his back having scrambled to make his ground and swatted Mahmudullah's next ball over long-off for six.

"It's a really special feeling", Miller told SuperSport.

Miller scored his century in just 35 balls in which he hit nine sixes and seven fours.

Miller hit young all-rounder Mohammed Saifuddin for five sixes in the 19th over, which yielded South Africa a whopping 31.

There were two wickets on his worldwide debut for Robbie Frylinck after a surprise call-up by South Africa for the 33-year-old bowler, including removing Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan for 13. Hashim Amla and Miller put on 79 runs in just 6.4 overs before Amla became Saifuddin's second victim in the 17th over, caught at deep square leg off a slower ball for 85 off 51 balls. "We need to learn a lot from this tour".

Bangladesh scored 17 runs off the first over, bowled by Beuran Hendricks.

In fact, the Proteas can now brag with three of the fastest centuries in the global format.

Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan, who opened the bowling on a slow-paced pitch, took 2/24 in his 4 overs but he was then trumped by South African captain JP Duminy in the same role when he took 2/23.
