The official line from Microsoft is that, 'there will also be no Achievements for Original Xbox games because this functionality was also not originally available.' This could be a bit of a kick in the teeth for some Xbox fans, especially because when Sony started bringing PlayStation 2 titles to the PS4 they added trophies functionality to the games.

When Microsoft made their E3 announcement, they announced the first game that would be part of the program, "Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge", a popular action flight game published by the company.

"We have a list of original Xbox games that might come but it won't be as big as Xbox 360 BC, I'll tell people that", Spencer said in an older interview with Giant Bomb.

The games will be playable on the full family of Xbox One consoles including the original (now discontinued) launch 2013 Xbox One, the newer Xbox One S, and the high-end 4K-ready $499 Xbox One X when the console launches next month. The Xbox One X version of the game had also received enhancements that include better graphics and support for 60fps frame rates. Also, while couch multiplayer is still an option, online play is not. However, offline multiplayer scenarios such as co-op and system-link are supported as they were originally. And to help celebrate the launch of Original Xbox games into the Xbox One Backward Compatibility library, Xbox Game Pass members get access to Xbox Original Ninja Gaiden Black for free as a part of their membership to the game subscription service. However, the game will still appear sharper textures and some graphical effects are not available on normal Xbox One.

In regards to the selection of these games, Xbox platform lead Bill Stillwell told IGN, "A curated list of key games was the way to go with this".
