This was only Madrid's third win in six rounds.

Zinedine Zidane's side nearly made the game safe when Cristiano Ronaldo's drive cannoned back off the post, though up the other end, Alaves were also denied by the woodwork, Alfonso hitting the frame of the goal from distance.

REAL MADRID travel to Alaves this weekend following a disastrous last minute defeat at home to Betis.

Spanish football expert Guillem Balague recently reported that despite banging in the goals in Germany and winning three Bundesliga titles on the trot, he wants to play for Real.

"I am happy for (Ceballos)".

Zinedine Zidane's charges did push for another goal but they were unable to carve out another chance and had to settle for a 2-1 win. "He showed that he has a place on this team".

Father and son will be reunited, albeit on opposite sides of the ball, when Madrid visits the Basque Country club. As a result, the score remained at 2-1 by the final whistle.

Three minutes later, however, Ceballos curled the ball in after the home side's goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco put a clearance directly into his path.

However, he capped his league debut with a fine first-half brace, either side of Manu Garcia's goal.

Madrid reportedly paid Betis 16.5 million euros ($19.7 million) for the up-and-coming midfielder.

Ceballos received a pass from Marco Asensio, fought through a tackle, and shot just inside the post for the opener.

Madrid was also without the injured Karim Benzema and Marcelo, while Gareth Bale was left on the bench.

Ramos has been an integral part of Real Madrid since joining the La Liga giants from his boyhood club Sevilla in 2005.

Barcelona now sit seven points clear of Real at the top of the table.
