Ryan Giggs predicts two-horse Premier League title race

Much more is expected of both Manchester City and United this season in what is set to be another gripping title race. It's taken time but I think we are getting there now.

After clinching their return to European football elite competition by virtue of winning the Europa League last season, Jose Mourinho has opted to bolster his squad with the additions of central defender Victor Lindelof and striker Romelu Lukaku. This year we definitely have to start challenging for the title, there's no question about it, and I think we can definitely do it with this squad. Not in a negative way, but just having the Champions League will bring different challenges. Chelsea getting N'Golo Kante was a masterstroke and Eden Hazard and Diego Costa came back to form. "So, whoever has the best relationship, the best contacts and is willing to put the money in will probably do it".

After all, Mourinho himself noted at the end of last season that, following a sixth place finish, the Premier League would be the priority next term, and supporters will just hope to see him stick to that promise.

"I always maintained that it was not sort of Premier League, I would rather go to a good club lower down, which had the same ambition, same philosophy, rather than go to a Premier League team that are perhaps struggling, fire-fighting or got owners that are famous for sacking after six months", Giggs was quoted saying by Independent.

United will compete in the Champions League after something of a mixed campaign a year ago.

"United need to strengthen, but they all do - quite a bit", he added.

The north London club have become a formidable outfit in the past few seasons under manager Mauricio Pochettino and Neville feels that the Toffees could now go on a similar path.

Ryan Giggs says it will be a battle between Manchester City and Manchester United for the Premier League title this season.

Both clubs have been busy in the summer transfer window already as they look to improve on two largely disappointing domestic campaigns.
