  • Knew it wouldn't be easy for Pakistan: Mithali Raj

High on confidence after winning three out of three games in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup, Mithali Raj-led Indian women's team set to take on Sri Lanka in a group stage match at the County Ground in Derby, England on July 5. Chasing 233, Sri Lanka were restricted to 216/7 in 50 overs.

Sri Lanka began cautiously, but lost wickets at crucial junctures throughout the match. This is India's fourth consecutive win in the World Cup this year.

Hosts England and India emerged victorious in their respective ICC Women's World Cup fixtures on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka kept losing wickets throughout their chase and with required run-rate creeping up things got hard for them.

India: Poonam Raut, Smriti Mandhana, Dipti Sharma, Mithali Raj (captain), Harmanpreet Kaur, Veda Krishnamurthy, Sushma Verma (wicketkeeper), Jhulan Goswami, Mansi Joshi, Ekta Bisht, Poonam Yadav.

The duo first resurrected India's innings and opened up once they got their eyes in. There are no injury concerns otherwise the ratio of wicket taking is also in as offer, India might tweak their bowling attack for that reason.

Where is the match between India and Sri Lanka being played?

Deepti and Mithali then stitched a fine 118-run partnership for the third wicket to help India recover from early jolts.

Despite losing all three of its opening games, Sri Lanka captain Inoka Ranaweera says there are positives to take from the performances, including Sunday's seven-wicket defeat to England.

Atapattu scored her first century in 2011, followed by two in 2014 against Ireland and South Africa, respectively, before setting up her recent record of second highest individual score in the history of World Cup. Manodara and SS Weerakkody put up a strong fight, but after both of them were dismissed, PM Weerakkody and OU Ranasinghe were unable to push Sri Lanka past the finish line before time ran out.
