Senators Grassley, Feinstein question former AG Lynch about Clinton email investigation

  • Judiciary committee asks Lynch to disclose Clinton email conversations

The Senate judiciary committee on Friday sent a letter to former Attorney General Loretta Lynch asking her to disclose any communications she had with Hillary Clinton's campaign and the Democratic National Committee regarding the FBI's probe into the former secretary of state's emails.

One is Lynch's infamous tarmac meeting last June at the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport where former President Bill Clinton boarded the attorney general's plane and reportedly stayed there for about 30 minutes for a private chat. "Debbie Wasserman Schultz about the email investigation", reports CNN.

The Clinton campaign was terming the investigation, which was in fact an investigation, a "matter".

Comey had also briefed high-ranking members of the aforementioned committees on documents he discovered indicating that Lynch was obstructing the case.

Additionally, it was the moment when Lynch asked Comey to align his testimony about the investigation with the language being used by the Clinton campaign, i.e. he was told to refer to it as "a matter".

Comey testified to Congress earlier this month that Lynch's instructions to him about how to frame the probe caused him to lose confidence in Lynch's independence, and that of DOJ. Lynch tried to shape the way he talked about the investigation into Mrs. Clinton's emails, and he also hinted at other behavior "which I can not talk about yet" that made him anxious about Ms. "Lynch would keep the [investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server] from going too far".

Comey has said publicly that Ms. The Post reported that the FBI considered the document bad intelligence and possibly even a fake sent to confuse the bureau.

Sen. Lindsay Graham, who would have been present for classified testimony on the Russian Federation probe, has publicly stated that he doubted the purported Lynch document was fake. The letters ask about an email reportedly recovered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation which some news reports have suggested might have been created by Russian Federation. Circa's John Solomon and Sara A. Carter reported: "During the conversation, Comey told lawmakers he confronted Lynch with a highly sensitive piece of evidence, a communication between two political figures that suggested Lynch had agreed to put the kibosh on any prosecution of Clinton". Lynch has denied knowing or talking to the person to whom she allegedly gave this assurance.
