WARNING: The video below contains graphic content.

Dashcam video from the fatal shooting of a black man by a Minnesota police officer was released by officials Tuesday, days after the officer was acquitted in the man's death.

The footage shows Officer Jeronimo Yanez approaching the vehicle and politely telling Mr Castile his brakelights are out.

"Sir, I have to tell you I do have a firearm on me", Castile, who had a permit to carry a gun, told the officer. "Don't pull it out", Yanez told Castile.

Mr Castile reassures the officer "I'm not pulling it out", before Officer Yanez repeats "Don't pull it out" and then fires into the auto as Miss Reynolds screams.

The shooting first gained national attention when Reynolds streamed the aftermath of the encounter on Facebook Live, detailing how Castile was shot during a routine traffic stop. Yanez informs Castile that one of his break lights is out.

Yanez, who is Latino, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and endangering safety by discharging a firearm.

The dashcam footage, which jurors had played for them several times this past month in the course of Yanez's manslaughter trial, mainly supports Reynolds's testimony.

Steven Belton, the black president and CEO of the Minneapolis Urban League, said the footage was "powerfully painful" and that Castile was "gunned down like a rabid animal". Understandably, not many people bought that explanation and are outraged that Yanez was acquitted by a jury. The 32-year-old had been driving with his girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds, and her 4-year-old daughter near St. Paul, Minnesota. Castile appears to give something to Yanez through the driver's side window. Yanez has since been fired from the police force.

Yanez then describes what happened, saying, "He was sitting in the auto, seat belted".

At the end of the video, Yanez told a supervising officer that Castile's grip was "a lot wider than a wallet".

Yanez said he smelled the odor of "burnt" marijuana in Castile's auto as he walked up to the driver's side window.

Yanez then asked Castile for proof of insurance and his driver's license. "And his hand made like a C-shape type, um, type shape and it appeared to me that he wrapping something around his fingers and nearly like if l were to put my uh, hand around my gun like putting my hand up to the butt of the gun".

The officer ordered Ms Reynolds, who is heard screaming, not to move and began shouting expletives. I'm going to take your spot.
